Keep the layout simple
- One column, standard headings (Summary, Experience, Projects, Skills, Education) and real text, not an image or a scanned PDF.
- Name, phone, email and city at the top, each easy to find. A LinkedIn link helps.
- Dates in one format throughout, for example “Jun 2021 – Present”.
- A PDF or Word file exported from a document, not designed in a graphics tool.
Personal details and the declaration
Date of birth, father’s name, marital status, a photo and a signed declaration are common on Indian resumes, but applicant-tracking systems don’t need them and they take space from your evidence. Keep your contact details; add other personal details only when an employer asks for them.
Showing project-based experience
In IT services, work is often organised by client project. List each employer once, with your title and dates, and put the projects underneath it: the project name, the client if you can share it, your role and the dates, then two to five bullets on what you did and what changed.
Resumeize reads both common layouts, “Project 1: …” blocks under an employer and “Company Name / Designation / Duration” fields, and keeps each project under the job it belongs to.
Freshers: education, projects and internships
Put education near the top with your CGPA or percentage, then academic projects and internships with what you built and the tools you used. Certifications such as NPTEL or Coursera courses can go in their own short list. Hobbies and strengths rarely help a screening system; specific projects do.
Notice period, salary and location
These are screening questions. Answer them on the portal or the application form rather than in the resume. When a posting asks for a notice period, a location or years of experience, Resumeize lists it separately and never counts it in your score.
